World Unani Day celebrated in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 11: The Directorate of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy, today organised a function to celebrate World Unani Day on the eve of the birth anniversary of great Unani Scholar, Hakim Ajmal Khan.

The function was attended by Director ISM, Dr Mohan Singh, Additional District Commissioner, Srinagar, Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director ISM, Dr Ashaq Hussain, District Medical Officers, Researchers, Academicians and AYUSH Practitioners.

Dr Mohan said that the main objective of World Unani Day is to spread awareness about health care delivery through Unani system of medicine through its preventive and curative philosophy.      He emphasized on the need to practice Unani Medicine in daily life to take advantage of benefits like all round fitness, stress relief and improved immunity.

He stressed on the need to carry forward the Unani system by creating awareness at mass level by involving NGO’s, district administration, schools and other allied and related department.

The Director in his address also appreciated the services of ISM doctors posted in far flung, remote and inaccessible areas for their commendable job.

He maintained that attempts are being made to mainstream this health system for its holistic approach to treat a patient.

The Director also highlighted the achievements of the directorate of ISM and informed the gathering that new activities are being taken up under flagship program ‘National AYUSH Mission’. He also talked about establishment of health and wellness centers in J&K to reach out to the people living in remote areas.
