Militant killed in Rajouri gunfight, civilian injured in Kulgam attack  

Rajouri/ Srinagar, June 4: One militant was killed in an ongoing encounter in Mehari village of Rajouri district.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Rajouri and Poonch range, Vivek Gupta told KNO that on the basis of a specific input, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Army’s Rashtriya Rifles and police in Mehari area of Rajouri Kalakote.
“During the search operation, exchange of fire took place in which a militant has been killed,” DIG said, adding that the operation is going on and the entire area has been sealed.
He further informed that the identification of militant is being ascertained

Militants attack police party, civilian injured

Meanwhile, a civilian was injured after militants attacked a police party in Yaripora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.

According to a local news agency KINS militants attacked the police party at Yaripora Kulgam this afternoon. In the attack, a civilian, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad, was injured.

A senior police officer said, “Militants who were in a vehicle fired upon a police party in the market area. No policemen was injured however, one civilian sustained injuries in the incident,” he said.
