Srinagar, May 25: Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Damhal Hanjipora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
According to reports Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the DH Pora area this morning following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.
He said the hiding militants opened fire at the security forces, who retaliated, triggering a gun battle.
Two militants were killed in the operation, the official added.
The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained, he added.
Meanwhile, mobile internet was suspended in Shopian and Kulgam and districts as precautionary measure, a police official said. (KNS)
