Panic grips SMHS after 7 test positive

Srinagar, May 18: Two sections of SMHS Hospital have badly hit after the death of young lady, who tested positive for COVID-19 and died at CD Hospital on Sunday.
The doctors had said that the lady died of Septic-shock and had undergone multiple surgeries. She was operated at SMHS Hospital Srinagar by ENT surgeons for Ludwig’s Angina (submandibular abscess) and mediastinitis and had septic shock.
Insiders told KNT that a large number of doctors and para-medical staff that had come into contact with the infected deceased lady have been quarantined and there is complete chaos and confusion in ENT and Surgical Department of the hospital. “Five doctors have been found positive and admitted in isolation wards. Two patients who shared the same ward with lady have also tested positive while three more doctors have been directed to go for quarantine,” said a medico admitting the there was panic in surgical and ENT departments.
“It’s not like you come in touch with a confirmed case and you will be quarantined, the problem is that from past couple of days, the infected doctors have come in touch with dozens of persons. Contact history is being checked and all efforts are being made to find those contacts,” he said adding that patients are also at risk and many patients have been shifted to isolation wards.
