COVID-19 cases near 70000 mark in India, 21000 recover

New Delhi, May 11: While the number of Novel Coronavirus positive patients increased to 67152 across the country on Monday, the recovery rate also spiked, reaching 31.15 per cent, after 20917 people recovered.

 

The total number of cases included 4213 new patients, who were added in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases under medical supervision at present stand at 44029 across the country.

With 310 fresh cases, the Novel Coronavirus tally in the National Capital reached 7233, Office of the Delhi Chief Minister said. The figure includes 5031 active cases and 2129 recovered. So far, 73 people in Delhi have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

In the past 12 hours, Malegaon witnessed eight COVID-19 fatalities and detected 20 new cases, stated District Civil Hospital, and added that the district’s pandemic death toll now stands at 28. In a span of few hours after 44 COVID-19 cases were found, 17 more cases were detected. An SRPF jawan and nurse tested positive for Covid-19 in Jalna.

Despite the steep rise in the number of Coronavirus cases in Nashik which touched up to 650, the rate of recovery from the infection is also reassuring, with 63 patients getting completely cured from the disease in the district.

The Coronavirus cases continue to rise unabated with 18 more persons, including 12 from Kashmir and six from Jammu, testing positive, taking the total number of infected people to 879 in the Union Territory. An elderly man succumbed to Coronavirus in Kashmir valley, taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 10.
