LG Murmu lauds security forces for successful operations amid COVID-19’

Srinagar, May 7: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu has appreciated the role of security agencies in Kashmir for conducting ‘successful anti-militancy operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic’.

Sources said that the LG was briefed about the prevailing security scenario in Kashmir by the top officials. “The officials gave a detailed overview enunciating the security measures initiated for ensuring peace and stability in the Valley”, they added.

Sources said that LG was also briefed about the measures being taken by security forces and other departments in containing the spread of COVID-l9.

Sources said that the LG Murmu called for increased surveillance on all fronts in the Union Territory to ensure safety and security of the people.

The Lieutenant Governor also stressed on the need to ensure safety of the general public. He (LG) advised the administration to give due consideration to the genuine needs of people in the current scenario.

Sources said that Lieutenant Governor further emphasised on the need for constant alertness, preparedness and synergy among various departments and agencies to enable dealing with an emerging situation in a coordinated and effective manner.

“The LG reiterated the need to constantly maintain a close watch on the ground situation and underlined the importance of sustained efforts to bring peace and harmony in the society for the overall benefit of people,” sources maintained. (KINS)
