Srinagar, May 2: A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants at Chanjmullah Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, police said.
“Cordon and search operation was launched in the area following information about the presence of militants there,” a police official said, adding that the hiding militants opened fire which was retaliated triggering an encounter.
The gunfight was on when this report was filed.
