Members of Tablighi Jamaat, who had tested positive for COVID-19 after attending religious congregation at Nizamuddin in New Delhi last month, have come forward in large numbers to donate plasma to save the lives of infected patients. Their gesture is befitting to reply to a section of media which launched a vicious propaganda against them.
Soon after the outbreak of COVID-19 in March this year a section of media left no stone unturned to demonize the Tablighi Jamaat members and projected them as main culprits for spreading COVID-19 in the country.
No stone was left unturned to project them as undisciplined lot, who didn’t pay any heed towards the warnings issued by the administration. The Nizamuddin Markaz where the religious congregation was held issued repeated statements to clarify that it had sought prior permission from the government and no rules were violated. But no one was ready to listen to them as section of the media didn’t allow them to present their version.
The Tablighis who were projected as undisciplined and unruly after recovering from the COVID-19 infection were the first ones to respond to the appeal of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who claimed that plasma theory is giving positive results. The members of Tablighi Jamaat made a beeline outside the hospitals to donate their plasma with a hope that their plasma will save the lives of critical patients.
Although Centre on Wednesday said that plasma theory is not that safe and cannot be considered as a complete treatment for the COVID-19 but a few experts are of the opinion that it can work and in some patients it has already worked.
Members of Tablighi Jamaat by their one gesture have given a befitting reply to hate mongers, who vitiated and polarized the environment in the country amid the COVID-19 outbreak, just for the sake of TRPs and running their media houses. One can only feel pity for such people with a sick mind, who leave no opportunity to even encash a catastrophe.
