Flash floods kills 2 sisters in Chadoora, 2 in Shopian

Srinagar, Apr 27: Two minor sisters were killed in a flash flood, triggered by incessant rain in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Official sources said that incessant rain lashed Chadoora on Monday evening, triggering flash flood.

”Two sisters, identified as Ruksana and Rumaisa, were washed way in the flash flood, when they were grazing cattle in a field,” they said.

They said a search and rescue operation was immediately launched in the area. However, they said bodies of both the girls were recovered from a nearby canal.

”After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their relatives for last rites,” they added.

2 sisters killed in Shopian flash floods

Meanwhile, in another incident two sisters from Shopian were killed due to flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Chotipora area of Shopian district on Monday evening.

Reports reaching GNS said that the two sisters who were walking on the bank of a nallah were washed away due to the flash floods and they drowned in the stream.

The sisters were identified as Khalida (25) and Sumiya (23) daughters of Ghulam Mohammad Pal.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wajahat Hussain told the new agency that soon after the incident a search operation was launched to retrieve the bodies of the duo. When reports last came in, the searches to find the bodies were going on.
