Army conducts Covid-19 Assistance, awareness drive in Lolab Kupwara

Srinagar, 26 Apr : In view of the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 and all out efforts by the stakeholders to fight its spread, the Army in Lolab Kupwara has been tirelessly working with the district administration to ensure that the people remain safe.
These initiatives are being undertaken through awareness campaigns aid and relief drives to educate and inform the local populace as also to bring help to their doorstep where needed.
“Keeping this in mind Army Camp at Gujjarpatti under the aegis of Lolab Military Garrison conducted an Assistance and Awareness Drive for the Awaam of Lolab to provide medical assistance and screening for COVID -19. The initiative saw participation from the locals as well as migrant labourers. The attendees were informed about the pertinent Do’s and Dont’s to protect themselves from the disease” the statement reads.
“During the event local villagers and migrant labourers were screened for COVID -19 and routine medical issues were also addressed. Medicines and Personal Protective Hygiene essentials were distributed to the needy and to individuals at risk, especially the old and aged.
The villagers were also educated about the universal precautions and etiquette’s, hand washing techniques, salient features & warning signs of COVID -19, when to suspect the disease and where to report in case of any need”.
“Keeping in view of the acute shortage of masks in the present scenario where in it is practically not feasible to use disposable masks by everyone’s and the health hazards posed by reusing unsterile masks, the people were also trained to prepare reusable “Home-made masks“ by using a few materials available in every household. Attendees were also educated on the proper method of wearing masks and how to sterilise them and reuse home-made masks by simple methods which are easy to follow”.
“Disinfection and sanitisation was also carried out in the area at high risk places which could serve as possible hotspots to culminate the possibility of an outbreak at these sites.
The programme will not only bolster the combined efforts to fight the Pandemic but will also bring much needed succour to the locals during the present time of crisis”(KINS)
