MHA issues clarification on its re-opening of shops order

New Delhi, Apr 25:  Soon after the order allowing re-opening of shops in non-containment or hotspots zones on Friday late night, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday issued clarification on the amendments made to the consolidated revised guidelines on lockdown measures on April 24.

All shops in rural areas, except those in shopping malls, have been allowed to resume operations whereas in urban areas, all standalone shops, neighbourhood shops and shops in residential complexes are allowed. However, it is not applicable to shops in markets and market complexes and shopping malls, the MHA communication added.

It has also been clarified that sale by e-commerce companies will continue to be permitted for essential goods only.

The Home Ministry also highlighted that sale of liquor and other items continues to be prohibited as specified in the National Directives for COVID-19 management.
