Police arrest trader for selling masks on inflated rates in Batmaloo

Srinagar 14 April: Srinagar Police on Tuesday detained a trader, accused of looting people by selling face masks on high rates, for which locals of the area have appreciated police action against such looters.
Sources told that Police station Batmaloo detained and owner of a trading company  for allegedly selling face mask at an exorbitant  rate of Rs  350 per mask, instead of its actual cost rupees 150 . “The trader has failed to produce any rate list with regard to his rates”, they said.
Accordingly a case under FIR No 40/2020, under Essential Commodities Act, was registered in police Station Batmaloo against the detained trader. It is pertinent to mention here that on 12 March, 2020 government of India Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department included face masks & hand sanitizers under Essential Commodities Act 1955. Locals of the area have highly appreciates the police action against looters, who are indulging in taking wrong advantage of COVID-19 outbreak. (CNS)
