COVID-19: Confirmed cases close to 2000 in India, toll rises to 50

New Delhi, Apr 2: With 298 fresh positive cases, the total number of such cases on Thursday went up to 1,965 while 12 more deaths were also reported across the nation, taking the toll to 50, the Government said.

The active COVID-19 cases till Thursday morning stood at 1764, the Health Ministry said.

A total of 150 cases have been cured and discharged, the ministry added.

The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday had said that the travel of Markaz was one of the reasons behind the spike in cases, as 386 new cases were reported in just a day or between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Markaz Nizamuddin in the National Capital has become a hot spot of coronavirus cases, the ministry had said.

Scores of people, who attended a religious gathering here last month, have found to be infected with the deadly virus.

State wise, Maharashtra remains the worst affected with 335 positive cases and 13 deaths, followed by Kerala 265 positive cases and two casualties.

Delhi now houses 152 coronavirus patients with two deaths.

 

Tamil Nadu has 234 positive cases with one casualty, while Karnataka has 110 COVID-19 patients with three deaths and Uttar Pradesh has 113 with two casualties, Rajasthan 108.
