Two years on,Narbal-Budgam bridge awaits completion, people suffer

Budgam, Mar 17: More than two years have passed since the construction of a bridge was started; the authorities have miserably failed to complete the bridge over a river at Narbal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, causing hardships to the people.
residents of the area expressed anguish against the Roads and Building department (R&B) for failing to construct the Narbal-Budgam bridge from past two years.
The bridge as per the locals connects several villages of the area to the main town.
Javaid Malik, a resident of that area said, “The work for the construction of the bridge was started two years back, but was halted very shortly for unknown reasons.”
He said that they approached the concerned authorities several times in the past but, all in vein as no concrete steps were taken by them to complete the bridge.Executive Engineer R&B department Budgam, Asgar Ali, said work on the bridge is in progress but due to no funds available, the work got halted. “As soon as the funds will be released, the work will be started on war-footing basis,” he added— (KNO)
