Bukhari led Apni party delegation calls on Modi

Srinagar: A delegation of the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Apni party led by its President Altaf Bukhari meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

The delegation was comprised of 24 former MLAs and MLCs including Ghulam Hassan Mir, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Zaffar Manhas, Vijay Bakaya, Vikram Malhotra, Manjeet Singh, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Javed Hassan Beigh, Usman Majeed, Choudhary Qamar Hussain, Raja Manzoor, Shoiab Lone, Abdul Majeed Padder, Abdul Rahim Rather, Syed Asghar Ali, Javaid Mirchal, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Yawar Ahmad Mir and Kamal Arora.

The meeting which was held at official residence of Prime Minister at 7 Race Course Road New Delhi started at 4:30 and ended at 6:10 PM.

Taking to Kashmir News Service over phone from New Delhi, Altaf Bukhari termed the meeting successful and said it ended on positive note.

“Each and every demand was discussed in detail with PM. We informed him about the apprehensions of public regarding plans of GoI to carry out demography changes in J&K. We also conveyed him about the other apprehension regarding delimitation of seats to be done to give particular region superiority,” he told KNS.

“People of J&K are our own people. Apprehensions of demography changes are baseless. Delimitation of seats will be done on merit,” Bukhari quoted PM Modi.

We also raised the issue of protection of land and jobs for state subjects, Bukhari said, “Regarding our demand of restoration of statehood, he told us it can begin after delimitation of seats.”

Bukhari also said that they also demanded a special package for tourism, horticulture, agriculture, besides employment package and regularisation of daily rated workers.

He also said that they also demanded augmentation of electricity and road infrastructure besides making Mughal road an all weather road with the construction of tunnel.

Another Senior leader Ghulam Hassan Mir quoted PM Modi as having said that winter and situation after revocation of Article 370 was hindrance in the development of J&K.

“Now this spring, there will be visible change with lot of development works,” Mir quoted PM Modi.  (KNS)
