Two Drug peddlers booked under PSA, shifted to Mattan jail

Srinagar, March 13: Administration on Friday booked two “notorious” drug peddlers from Budgam district of central Kashmir under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) as part of its ongoing drive to curb the menace of drug abuse in the Valley.The two drug peddlers identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Pandith son of Abdul Ahad Pandith and Mohd Amin Dar @Kantro son of Abdul Gani Dar both residents of Check Kawoosa were arrested on February 28 last month along with a large quantity of drugs. Subsequently, a case FIR no 27/20 u/s 8/22; 29 NDPS act was registered at Police Station Magam.A senior officer of the Divisional Administration told that today both the drug peddlers have been booked under the PSA (Vide NO: DIVCOM-K/122 and 123/2020) and were shifted from Central Jail Srinagar to sub jail Mattan in south Kashmir.The duo was booked under J&K Prevention of illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance act 1988, by the orders of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, he added.
