20 days on, Ashimuqam village continue to reel under darkness

Srinagar, Feb 21: The inhabitants of Nagbal Ashmuqam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district expressed resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing provide supply in the area. As per the residents, PDD has failed to repair the defunct transformer in the area due to which they are problems in the villages.

Ghulam Mohammad Gojri, a local said PDD has failed to resolve the issue from past twenty days in the area. “We are facing immense hardship problems due to absence of electricity in the village,” he said.

“Students preparing for examinations are worst hit by the absence of electricity,” Gojri said adding that chief engineer should intervene in the matter.

Another resident of Paraypora Ashmuqam Yousuf Sofi said they are reeling under darkness from past 3 weeks as administration has failed to repair the defunct transformer in the area.

The residents appealed Lieutenant Governor led administration and PDD officials to resolve the issue, as soon as possible, so that people can get sigh of relief.

A senior official at PDD told JKNS that they would resolve the matter, on priority basis. “We would inform the concerned officials and within next 24 hours it would be resolved,” the official said.
