2 Drug Peddlers Arrested In Anantnag

Srinagar: Two drug peddlers were arrested and psychotropic substance was recovered from them in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said on Monday.

They said following specific information about transportation of contraband, a checkpoint was established at Arwani Bridge in Anantnag. “Police intercepted a vehicles at the checkpoint and during checking recovered 35 strips of Spasmoproxyvon containing 840 tablets,” they said.

They said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Khursheed Ahmad Dar resident of Tulkhan was immediately taken into custody.

“A Case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation into the matter has been initiated,” he said.

They said a vehicle was intercepted at a checkpoint established near Goriwan Chowk Bijbehara. “During checking, police recovered 52 bottles of Codicof-T,” they said, adding the driver, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, was arrested,” they said.

They said a case has been registered and investigation has been taken up to nab other people involved in drug trafficking. “Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers,” they said

They said the consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that police is making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
