Chandigarh: Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala died on the spot on Sunday, after unknown assailants opened fire on him.
The shootout took place in Mansa district of Punjab, in which three people sustained bullet injuries, including the Congress leader.
The incident happened a day after Punjab Police withdrew the security cover of more than 400 VIPs, including Moose Wala. The move was part of the Bhagwant Mann’s government’s exercise to crack down on the VIP culture.
The popular singer and rapper had joined Congress before the Punjab elections this year. He had contested the Assembly polls from Mansa, which he lost to Aam Aadmi Party’s Vijay Singla.
