Trapped militants killed TV artist Amreen Bhat: IG Kashmir
Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants in Aganhanzipora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday, police said.
“Encounter has started in the Aganhanzipora area of #Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow, ” a police spokesman said.
The encounter is believed to have broken out after security forces cordoned the area following a tip off.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar said that two LeT militants involved in killing of television artist Amreen Bhat have been trapped in Awantipora gunfight.
A 35-year-old television artist was shot dead by militants in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday. in this terror act, her nephew was also injured.
While quoting IGP, Kashmir Zone Police said, ” both killers (LeT #terrorists) of Late Amreen Bhat, an artist, trapped in #Awantipora #encounter. Further details shall follow.”
Earlier Police informed in a tweet that an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Aganhanzipora area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora.
The exchange of fire is going on and further details are awaited.
