Srinagar: A grenade was lobbed by militants on the bus carrying personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, an official of the Force said.
There was no loss or injury in the attack, he said.
The militants threw a grenade at a bullet-proof bus of CRPF at Brazloo bridge, Kulgam, which missed the target and exploded on the roadside.
“Some splinters, however, hit the bus causing some damage. There was no loss or injury in the incident,” a CRPF official said.
Soon after the attack, the whole area was cordoned off by the joint forces and search was carried out to nab the attackers.
Earlier in the day, a weapon-snatching bid was foiled by the CRPF in Kashmir.
Officials said unknown persons, believed to be militants, threw chilly powder into the eyes of a CRPF personnel at Reshi Bazar area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district with an aim to snatch his rifle.
“However, the attackers were not able to snatch the rifle and the bid was foiled,” a CRPF officer said.
The attackers fled from the spot. Security forces cordoned off the area to trace the persons, who attempted to snatch the rifle.
