Srinagar, Aug 1: Life returned to normal on Thursday after remaining crippled due to a day-long strike in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, where a top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander was among two militants killed in an encounter with security forces.
Shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying normally in Bijbehara and adjoining areas in Anantnag on Thursday. Educational institutions, tuition and coaching centres were also functioning normally. Work in government offices and banks was also normal.
Two JeM militants, including top commander Fayaz Panzoo, were killed in an encounter on Tuesday which ensued after a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF in village Katoo, Bijbehara in Anantnag.
