Srinagar, Feb 28: Everything we see around us has some science in it. Science is the part of everyone’s daily life. It has enormously improved our lives by extending the possibilities of life in different Galaxies, making our daily life more comfortable and dismissing myths and ignorance. Had it not been for the scientific temper of a few, we would have still been trapped in the dark ages.
With a view to rejoice the role of science, State Institute of Education, Kashmir celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2019, The National Science Day is celebrated since 1987 to mark the anniversary of the ‘Raman Effect’ by the physicist Sir Chandra Shekhara Venkata Raman, popularly known as CV Raman. In festivity of same, Mehbooba, Rehana Kousar and Mushafiq from DIET, Srinagar and Bashir Ahmed Peer and Manzoor Amhed Wani from SIE, Kashmir presented their papers. Theme for this year’s National Science Day was ‘Science for the People and People for the science.’
Syed Muhammad Amin, Principal DIET, Srinagar also grace the occasion and in his address reminds the gathering about the great work of scientists from Muslim Persia. He emphasized the need of developing the scientific temper among students and necessity of professional association of Science Teachers to promote active involvement of teachers in science related activities
Speaking on the occasion Mehboob Hussain, Joint Director Trainings/Principal State Institute of Education, Kashmir laid emphasis on achieving the objective of bringing awareness and knowledge about the role of science in everyday lives. He further said that we owe a lot to science. Be it medicines or cellular technology, scientific advancements in the last couple of centuries have transformed our lives by leaps and bounds. Regarding theme he said that obviously, science is for people. What we need now is people of science.
