Srinagar, Jan 15: Ground Handling Service Staff for ‘Go Airlines’ Tuesday staged a protest against ‘Trikuta Travel Planner’ alleging that they are not being paid wages as prescribed by Ministry of Labour Government of India.
The protesting staff alleged two of their colleagues were terminated after they raised the voice against Trikuta Travel Planner’ and ‘Go Airlines’. “Our colleagues were accused of hatching a plan to hijack a Go Airlines flight. They suffered a lot of mental trauma,” the protesting staff that assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar said.
“We are total 36 employees. The Company used to pay us only Rs 8200 per month while under Ministry of Labour Government of India norms we are entitled for Rs 15000. When I filed a case in the Labour Court in Budgam, I was terminated from the service. The court verdict came in my favour and the company was forced to take me back,” said Rouf Ahmed.
The protesters said that Trikuta Travel Planner is exploiting the ground handling service staff. “We want wages should be given to us as per Labour norms and besides Shahnawaz Wani and Muhammad Amin Rather should be reinstated who have been terminated by the company.
General Manager Trikuta Travel Planner Sarika Gupta while terming the allegations baseless said that some of the employees tendered their resignation due to personal reasons. “We are paying them wages as per the norms prescribed by Ministry of Labour. We initiated action only against those couple of employees who threatened us of dire consequences,” she said adding those employees who are protesting have already left the job. (CNS)
