DDC reviews Special Summary Revision of Photo electoral rolls

Ganderbal, Dec 7: District Development Commissioner Dr Piyush Singla today reviewed the progress of special summary revision of photo electoral rolls of two assembly constituencies of the district with reference to 01-01-2019 as qualifying date, here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Naseer Ahmad Wani, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ganderbal, Nisar Ahmad, SDM Kangan, all Tehsildars of the District and representatives of the political parties.
Various points were discussed pertaining to removal of duplicity in the electoral roll, purification of electoral images, special summary revision of photo electoral rolls, besides special summary revision.
The DDC asked the representatives of various political parties to appoint their Booth level Agents and provide the list of same to his office at the earliest for the smooth conduct of the process of Special Summary Revision.
The DDC, while interacting with the officers/officials involved in the process of special summary revision of photo electoral rolls exhorted upon them to focus on enrolment of new voters in the age group of 18-19 and to ensure hundred percent enrolments.
He asked the concerned to organize a special summary revision camp of photo electoral rolls for enrollment of left out voters at every polling station, along with BLOs (booth level officers). He directed the officers for speedy inclusion, correction, and deletion of names in Electoral Rolls.
On the occasion, the DDC urged to carry every necessary step for enrolment of eligible person as electors and generate awareness through camps and events at tehsil levels among new and young voters about voting and voting rights.
The DDC directed all the tehsildars to shift responsibility on the BLOs especially from Kangan constituency to update the electoral rolls so that all the leftover voters are included in the list besides making necessary deletions and report shall be submitted by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers/Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to the Office of District Election officer.
He called upon the officers to work with dedication and put their enhanced efforts for improving the cover at the earliest.
