Srinagar, Sep 27: A civilian was killed when forces opened fire during a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Noorbagh area of Qamarwari in Srinagar on Thursday.
An official said that the forces cordoned the house of Muhammad Yaqoob Malik following inputs about the presence of militants in the house. “Gunshots were fired during the CASO in which the house owner’s son Muhammad Saleem Malik suffered a bullet injury and died,” the official said, adding that the police was looking into the incident.
Meanwhile, authorities have imposed curfew in Srinagar’s old city to thwart protests against the killing of the civilian.
