Srinagar, Sep 5: Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has appealed all regional parties to frame a uniform response on issues of common concern and stake.
In a statement issued here Bhat said people dislike one-upmanship approach as this has always served the interests of hostile and divisive forces.
Bhat said that a cursory look of contemporary history will show how divisions in society and polity have rendered strong and legitimate voices virtually meaningless. “Working at cross purposes does no good to suffering masses and will undermine the political parties too.”
Jammu and Kashmir state is groaning under confusion and conflict, Bhat said adding that from the demand of resolution to safeguarding constitutional guarantees there is no similarity in word and deed.
“Political parties and social groups are day in and day out swearing for unanimity, yet indulge in divisive public debate,” he said.
Bhat said the issue defending Article 35-A has generated much of a heat and political parties of all hues rose to a race in legal battle. “But no two groups could organise a joint rally to show unity. Similarly, the election issue invites same kind of reactions as far as situation is concerned. Yet the voices seem divided.”
Bhat said till the parties and groups continue to score points, it will carry no conviction and will cause further damages weakening the social fabric and political institution.
Bhat said that Kashmir craves for a unifying force to wriggle out of miseries and losses of fragmentation. “Sooner this is realised the better it will be for the political parties pronouncedly wedded to the people and their aspirations,” he added.
