DC Srinagar seeks suggestions on how to learn to live with COVID

Srinagar, May 29: Seeking specific suggestions on how to learn to live with Novel Coronavirus, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Friday said that with active cooperation of people and colleagues on ground, perimeter restrictions had been removed in 13 erstwhile Red Zones of the district. ‘We are engaged with stakeholders, including representatives from business community for revival plan,’ he said, adding that Srinagar specific suggestions are welcome.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Dr Shahid said ‘In learning to live with virus, we are engaging with stakeholders, reps from business community for revival plan. Srinagar specific suggestions are welcome.
‘Perimeter restrictions (Roads & Lanes) removed in 13 erstwhile Red Zones in #Srinagar. Gratitude to people, and colleagues on ground for all the containment efforts & ensuring services; surveillance, screening etc. Zonation dynamic”.

 

The district administration on Wednesday eased restrictions in city’s 13 areas, which were declared containment zones earlier, to combat the spread of COVID-19.
After a detailed review of Red Zones and comprehensive analysis of COVID containment efforts, the District Disaster Management Authority, Srinagar approved removal of perimeter restrictions from 13 Containment Zones qualifying under the laid down guidelines.
The areas where perimeter restrictions has been removed, included erstwhile Red Zones Khayam, Natipora, Chhatabal, Jawahar Nagar, Hakah Bazar Hawal, Alamdar Colony, Boatman Colony Bemina, Ahmed Nagar, Tengpora bypass, Watal Kadal, Takanwari, Brein Nishat and Goripora. The district continues with 23 Containment (Red) Zones.

Dr Shahid said that perimeter restrictions involving blockade of roads and lanes in periphery of such containment zones have been removed for public convenience, pursuant to containment efforts yielding desired results. However, he said that any area can be declared as a Red Zone, if the cases are detected from there.
