Div Com reviews preventive measures in Non-COVID hospitals

Directs for strengthening COVID management centres in Anantnag

Srinagar, May 21: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K Pole Thursday convened a meeting to review the protocol to be followed by the healthcare staff working in Non Covid Hospitals in Kashmir in wake of Union Health advisory.

The meeting was attended by the Medical Superintendents of SMHS, L.D, SKIMS, Bemina, G B Panth, Bone & Joint and other Associated Hospital of Kashmir, besides Nodal Officer, Divisiona Coordinator and other concerned,

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held regarding the advisory and precautionary measures to be taken in Non Covid Hospitals across the Kashmir so that spread of virus is avoided.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to follow the advisory in letter and spirit so that timely action is taken to contain the disease in non covid hospitals. He instructed for undertaking disinfection drives on weekly basis to avoid spread of Covid infection in Non Covid dedicated hospitals.

The Div Com said that the purpose of the advisory is to provide guidance on preventive measures, isolation and quarantine of health care functionaries who are at increased risk of acquiring the COVID-19 disease, if there is a breach in the personal protection. He also said that while managing patients Hospitals shall activate its Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC).

The Div Com emphasized for taking all precautionary measures in and around the hospital premises and following necessary SOPs while attending patients who visit hospitals for treatment, besides their attendants must be treated as suspects.

The meeting was informed that Committee is already working on the same and assessment of Covid-19 and infection control procedures, surveillance and reporting of events is being monitored.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner also directed the District Administration, Anantnag to ensure strict implementation of lockdown and other necessary measures in the district for containment of Covid-19.

The Div Com said this while chairing a meeting convened here to review the measures and mechanism put in place by the district administration Anantnag to contain the spread of covid infection.

The Deputy Commissioner Ananatnag participated in the meeting through Video conferencing, while DIG Police, OSD H&ME, Nodal Officer, Director Health Services Kashmir, Principal GMC Anantnag, Nodal Officers, Lab Coordinators and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.

On the occasion the meeting was informed that various procedures are being adopting for contact tracing and other related aspects in the district.

The Div Com directed the DC to increase the manpower to strengthen the sample tracking and testing management besides ensure effective management of Covid Care Centres in the district. He also instructed for including buffer zones in red zones and complete sealing of entry and exit points in all red zones across the district

The Div Com stressed for undertaking aggressive sampling in the district so that positive Covid cases are identified at the earliest to prevent its further spread.
