Srinagar Airport ready to resume flight operations: Director

Srinagar, May 21: With Civil Aviation Minister Wednesday having informed that domestic flight operations will resume from May 25, the Director Srinagar International Airport, Thursday said that the Airport is ready for the operations but they are waiting for the DGCA approval to fly the aircrafts.
“As per the guidelines we are ready to resume the operations .Everything is ready from our side. But yes we are waiting for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) flight operation approval, Director Srinagar International Airport, Santosh Dhoke told news agency KINS.
He said that on the basis of guidelines issued by the Ministry of civil aviation and the MHA they have framed an SOP for Airport and same has been shared with the stake holders so that when the flight operations resume, the SOP is followed in letter and spirit by all.
According to the civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri, initially, only a small percentage of the total number of domestic flights will be operated.
Around 30 flights of different airline companies operated daily from Srinagar International Airport before the government of India imposed nation-wide lockdown to combat coronavirus pandemic.
One of the officials here in Srinagar Airport told KINS that social distancing marking has been completed. “Once the flight operations are resumed, the passengers from entry in the terminal till boarding will not come into physical touch with anyone,” the official said.
Sources further said that after the resumption of the flight operations, Passenger’s temperature, Aragya Setu will be checked. “The screening of the passengers will also be conducted by the health department officials at the drop gate number 1,” sources said.
Meanwhile sources said that the meeting was also called by the India’s aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) with representatives of all airlines to discuss the matter in respect of resumption of Domestic Civil Air Operations in a calibrated manner. (
