North Kashmir: 3 newly recruited militants held in Kupwara

Kupwara, May 21: A day after a gun wielding picture of three local youth went viral on social media in Kupwara district, security forces on Thursday morning after a brief exchange of fire arrested  the trio along with arms and ammunition in Sogam area of the district.

Officials told KNO that during cordon and search operation the trio who recently joined militant ranks were held along arms and ammunition.

Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar, confirmed to the news agency that three militants whose photo recently went viral were apprehended at Sogam in north Kashmir this morning.

He said a search operation was launched in Sogam area but during the brief exchange of fire trio was caught alive. He also confirmed that exchange of fire took place in the area and said arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

Pretienlty, a photo of three gun wielding youth went viral in social media on Wednesday afternoon of which two belong to Lalpora area and one from Kralpora Kupwara.
