Should positive tested cops come to work to show dedication, Omar on Zee TV claim

Srinagar, May 19: Taking a dig at Zee News for allowing infected employees to attend office, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said should the police personnel who tested positive in Kashmir come to work to show how dedicated they are.
However, Zee News clarified that Zee office, newsroom and studios were sealed on Friday and no infected person attended office. The clarification came after twitters demanded that editor needed to be charged under the pandemic act for purposely putting lives of the people under risk.
Large number of people joined the debate on twitter after Zee News Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhary in a tweet said ā€œ Team @ZeeNews is on the frontline, while social media stone pelters spread rumours. Those who are infected had the option of sitting at home & sharing memes. They came to work because theyā€™re committed professionals. If you canā€™t show them respect, donā€™t expose your spiteful selves!ā€.
Vice president of the National Conference (NC) Omar was among the first to react Chaudharyā€™s tweet and said ā€œ Since when has isolation for infected people become optional? Weā€™ve had 50+ cops tested positive in Kashmir today. Should they come to work to show how dedicated they are? Hopefully they are home sharing memes which is what these infected Zee people should have been doing! .
A tweeter said ā€œ editor need to be charged on the pandemic act for purposely putting lives of people under risk. This is open admission of guilt tweeters demand ā€œ.
However, Chaudhary in response to these and several other tweets said ā€œ BREAKING NEWS for those who are tweeting #ZeeNewsSealKaro !Our office, newsroom and studios were sealed on Friday itself by the very efficient NOIDA authorities. Read the official statement carefully. And stop spreading lies. The world has enough to deal with alreadyā€. ā€œThereā€™s a malicious campaign going on to distort my words & target @ZeeNewsā€, he said.
He further tweeted that ā€œ Setting the record straight- 1. No infected employee came to work. One person had been away from work since Monday & tested positive on Friday. 2. All his contacts were tested & immediately quarantined. All actions taken by @ZeeNews after the first case came to light are a matter of record and can be verified. My tweet refers to all media persons who have the option of staying at home but come to work despite the risk. To deliberately misinterpret this is unfortunate & vileā€.
