Srinagar, May 18: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar’s Old City on Tuesday morning, police said.
Police sources told KNO that an encounter started after a contact was established with militants following a mid-night cordon.
Kashmir zone police also confirmed on its twitter handle that a gunfight has started in Nawa Kadal area of the city. A top police officer said that a gunfight is on in Nawa Kadal area of city.
This is after of almost two years that a gunfight has been witnessed in Srinagar.
