Srinagar, May 17: The international community building pressure over China has started showing up, recently senior medical advisor of the Chinese government raised an alarm saying that the “big challenge” of a possible second wave of COVID-19 infections, could be in the offing.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic the world is blaming China for not informing the other countries about the deadly virus well in time. The United States has alleged that China has deliberately pushed the entire world into the quagmire of uncertainty and it needs to be held accountable for it.
Recently, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo alleged that the Chinese leadership allowed its people to travel outside the country despite knowing the risk of the transmission of the Coronavirus.
An analyst while talking to Precious Kashmir said, “China seems to be feeling the heat. It seems that Chinese leadership has started to realize that the country cannot survive in isolation and if the world opinion turns against the China it would mean that the country will lose the market for its goods.”
Referring to the recent statement of Chinese health advisor that second wave of the COVID-19 could be more deadly, the analyst said, “His statement has come at a time when the entire world is battling the virus which spread from Wuhan. Had the China banned the international travel soon after the COVID-19 appeared today world would not have been in so much of mess.”
The analyst said, “Questions are also being raised over the role of World Health Organization (WHO) which remained silent till the Coronavirus outbreak blew into a full blown crisis.”
Another observer said, “China knows it very well that damage has been done and raising an alarm at this point of time won’t make much difference. The first whistle blower doctor in China, who had tried to inform the world about the outbreak of COVID-19, was punished by the Chinese government for opening his mouth. The doctor later died due to this deadly infection.”
He said, “China cannot get away by playing a victim card. It will have to answer the world soon after this pandemic ends. Lives of people across 200 countries have become miserable. They have become hostages within their own homes. Everyone seems to be asking one simple question why China maintained silence in the very beginning and allowed normal activities to continue. Had the country sounded an alarm at that point of time may be situation could have not been so worse. China will have to answer many questions after the cure for the COVID-19 appears.”
