Baramulla, May 14: Amid ongoing COVID-19 crisis, an audio clip of a conversation between an official and a local over the defunct transformer in a Red Zone area in north Kashmir’s Tangmarg has gone viral on the social media.
The local resident of village Hardu Ichloo is heard requesting the official to get the defunct electric transformer repaired. However, the official can be heard blaming the caller for not cooperating with the administration. “You people are not cooperating, you have spread COVID there and spoiled the whole area,” the official is heard saying.
The caller is heard requesting the officer to provide the area with a new transformer as the residents are facing lot of problems during sehri time due to no electricity. But the official seems in no mood to listen.
The caller is heard telling the official that the entire area is fully cooperating with the administration and many suspected patients have been taken to the hospitals via ambulance, which has visited the area several times, to this the official is heard saying, ” No one came for testing when even 20 persons were expected. You won’t get the transformer unless and until you cooperate with the administration. Go and look for the transformer.”

Residents of Ichloo village said that the transformer was shifted to workshop 15-days ago, and has been repaired  there 10 days back, but a top official has instructed the Power Department not to provide  them with the transformer.
Residents while talking to Kashmir News Bureau on phone said, ” Few positive cases were reported in the village. May be some persons may not have cooperated with administration but that doesn’t mean whole village will be given a collective punishment.”
