Tribute to a friend

Death keeps no calendar. The death of 35-year old Tanveer-ul-Ahad, Chief  Editor of Kashmir Glory and Global News Service , has left all of us in shock and grief.
Tanveer was a soft-spoken gentleman, who was always ready to help everyone. As a journalist he never compromised with facts and had an art of digging a story till its end. His tragic death has left many of us speechless and dumbfounded. A young man, who would respond to anyone’s call even in the late hours and would go out of way to help even a stranger in distress is no more. I have a lost a friend and dear colleague, who never said no to anything.
I spoke to him just a day before he was admitted to the hospital. When the next day I called on his number to seek a clarification about a story he had carried in his bulletin, someone else picked up the phone and informed me that he has been admitted at SMHS hospital in Srinagar. I thought he may have fallen sick and will recover within a day or two. Next day when I called him up again, the same man answered the call but he sounded bit perturbed. I told him that I want to talk to Tanveer but he said that he (Tanveer) cannot speak. Soon after I called one of my doctor friend at SMHS hospital and asked him what’s wrong with Tanveer, his reply shocked me, “Tanveer is critical.” I argued with him and told him how is it possible. I spoke to him just two days ago but my doctor friend insisted that I should pray for him.
The death is the biggest reality of life and no one can run away from it. May Allah rest Tanveer’s soul in peace and give courage to his bereaved family to face this irreparable loss.
