GNS Editor-in-Chief Tanveer-ul- Ahad passes away

LG Murmu, Farooq, Omar, Altaf Bukhari, Kansal, Dr Sehrish, others condole demise

Srinagar, May 12: Tanveer-ul-Ahad, Editor-in-Chief of Kashmir Glory and Global News Service passed away after a brief spell of illness at SMHS Hospital here on late Tuesday night.
He was 35. He is survived by his wife and three children. Born in village Muqami Shahwali of Drugmulla area in district Kupwara, Tanveer was a man of impeccable integrity. Tanveer started his career in daily Alsafa newspaper and later moved to Kashmir Horizon and then to PBI news agency till he established his own media house, Global News Service.
People from different walks of life condoled Tanveer’s demise and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu in a condolence message prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members.

National Conference President and MP Dr Farooq Abdullah while expressing grief over Tanveer’s demise prayed for peace to the departed soul. “Allah grant you all courage to face this great loss. Amen,” he said in a condolence message.

National Conference vice-president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah in a statement said he stands in solidarity with Tanveer’s family in this hour of mourning and unimaginable grief and prays to Almighty to give them strength to bear this inconsolable loss.

“He was a talented journalist and had made a mark in the field at a very young age. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace”, he added.

Altaf Bukhari, Tarigami, G A Mir

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari expressed heartfelt condolences and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the family.
“Indeed it is shocking and irreparable loss for all of us particularly for his near and dear ones. Do understand your pain.  However were are helpless and have to bear this and continue to do our best in the interest of the organization which he headed and thereby try to serve our people,” said CPI(M) state general secretary M Y Tarigami.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir expressed  profound grief over Tanveer’s demise and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family.

Rohit Kansal, Dr Syed Sehrish

Principal Secretary Planning and Information Department, Rohit Kansal in a condolence message prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with bereaved family members of Tanveer.

Director, Information & Public Relations, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar expressed grief and shock over Tanveer’s death. She expressed sympathies with his family members and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear the huge loss.
The Director Information termed Tanveer ul Ahad as a journalist who made his name in media in a short period due to his hard work and excellent reportage through which he highlighted issues of public importance.

Dr Sehrish called Tanveer’s demise as a huge loss to journalistic fraternity of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Dr Sehrish also chaired a condolence meeting held at Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) office Jammu in which Joint Director Information Jammu, Namrata Dogra; Joint Director Headquarters, Parveen Kumar, Deputy Director PR, Mridhu Salathia and other officers participated.

The participants prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed their sympathies with the bereaved family.
Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan

President of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Paying rich tributes to the deceased, Dr Nisar said his death is a great loss to the media fraternity and has resulted in an unbridgeable void in the field of journalism.

“By dint of Tanveer’s hard work, GNS in a short time became a household name in Kashmir valley,” he said.

Dr Nisar said he was a fearless and uncompromising journalist who spoke truth to power. He was always respected and revered for his brave journalism and for him, the newspaper was a conduit for speaking truth.

“His contributions in the field of journalism will be remembered for a long time to come,” he said.

Calling the death as an irreparable loss, Dr Nisar said we have lost a gem of a person in the demise of Tanveer-ul- Ahad.

“He had maintained a good and brotherly relation with all his media colleagues and was known for his generosity, kindness, compassion and empathy,” he said.

“Media has lost an asset, but I have lost a dear friend,” said Dr Nisar.

National Conference, PDP
National Conference chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, additional spokesperson Sara Hayat Shah also expressed grief and shock over Tanveer’s demise and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman in a statement expressed condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for giving strength to the family so that they are able to bear the loss.

Journalists
The Executive Members of JK Press Association(JKPA) held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Ghulam Hassan Kaloo  today to condole Tanveer’s demise.
The Executive Members of JKPA remembered his contribution to the field of journalism and prayed for the departed soul. They expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Managing Director, Kashmir News Service (KNS),  Mohammad Aslam Bhat also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Tanveer and termed his death tragic and deeply disturbing.
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved  family.

“The deceased was an embodiment of many virtues and gentleman of par excellence. He would always help the needy and would involve himself in highlighting  the welfare issues of general public, especially of his native area,” Aslam added.

Chief Editor of Kashmir News Observer, Nasir Azam while expressing heartfelt condolence on the demise of Tanveer said, “He was my close friend. Tanvir was a committed journalist. We would often speak over phone and crack jokes and even discuss story ideas too. I knew him very closely. His death is a big loss for me as I have lost a good friend.”

He prayed for the highest standards in heaven for the deceased.  Azam on behalf entire KNO team expressed solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and shock.

The members of Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) also expressed heartfelt condolences over Tanveer’s demise.

Shopian, Pulwama working journalist guilds also condoled Tanveer’s demise and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Qayoom Wani

Former EJAC president and civil society leader Abdul Qayoom Wani in a condolence message said that Tanveer was a God fearing journalist and contributed a lot in the field of journalism.  His death created a vacuum in the field of journalism.
