‘No curfew passes for local media’

Precious Kashmir News
Srinagar, May 11: District administration Srinagar on Monday didn’t issue curfew passes to the representatives of different media organizations.
The office bearers of various local dailies had approached the Information Department to seek curfew passes for their staff members. But they were told that the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar only can issue the movement passes.
“We approached the DC office Srinagar. We were made to wait from morning till evening and at the end we were told that no passes can be issued,” said a manager of a local daily.
He said, “We need curfew passes to ensure that at least a few of our staff members reach the office. Newspapers fall under essential services. It’s unfortunate that we are being treated so shabbily.”
Despite repeated attempts DC Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Chaudary, didn’t pick up the phone.
