COVID-19: SMC corporator, two minors among 15 new cases


J&K tally jumps to 741; 6 in Shopian , 4 in Srinagar, 2 in Bandipora, one each in Baramulla, Anantnag, Udhampur

Srinagar, May 5: The number of COVID-19 positive cases continued to rise in Jammu and Kashmir as 15 more people tested positive for the deadly virus on Tuesday pushing the total tally up to 741 in J&K.

Officials told KNO that nine cases were confirmed at Viral Diagnostic Lab at SKIMS, 5 others at COVID-19 testing lab at Chest Disease Hospital Dalgate Srinagar and one at GMC Jammu.

They said that among the 15 new cases, 6 are from Shopian , four from Srinagar, two from Bandipora and one each from Baramulla and Anantnag districts while as one is from Udhampur.

The new positive cases include a SMC corporator and two minors aged 6 and 7 years respectively. The officials said that with 14 fresh cases, the total number of cases have risen to 741 in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for coronavirus at SKIMS told KNO that out of 898 samples tested on Tuesday at virology lab SKIMS, 9 were found positive.

Among new nine cases 6 are from Shopian while as 2 are from Bandipora and one from Baramulla. Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO that out of 838 samples tested on Tuesday, 05 were found positive and reports of 188 samples are awaited.

 

Among five cases, four are from Srinagar and one from Anantnag, he said adding that among four cases from Srinagar three belonging to single family including 7 and 13 year old brothers and their 40 year old mother who are from Wander Mohalla Rainawari.

Besides three members of a single family, a corporator and a 30 year old female from Tailwani Achabal, Anantnag is among five new cases tested positive at CD lab on Tuesday.

Pertinently three days before, brother of corporator was found positive for novel quarantine after which corporator along with other SMC officials were sent for quarantine and on Tuesday corporator was tested positive at CD hospital Lab

Officials from Shopian said that out of 176 samples tested on Tuesday, 6 were found positive, which includes 18,25, 50 and 50 year old four males and 18 and 55 year old two females.

They said that among 6 cases, 5 are from Hirpora and one from Manzimpora Bemnipora, adding that with 6 new cases toll of positive cases in Shopian has reached to 90.

Officials from Bandipora said that two new cases include 6  and 41 year old males while as officials from Baramulla said that 22 year old lady was found positive on Tuesday who belong to Baramulla district.

As per the officials said that new case from Jammu division is a 23 year old youth from Majouri Ramnagar in Tikri belt of Udhampur district who has travel history of Punjab.

 

As per officials figures, 132 positive cases including one death and 62 recoveries are from Bandipora, 110 positive cases including one death and one recovery are from are Anantnag, 113 including two deaths and 75 recoveries are from Srinagar, 104 including 42 recoveries and 3 deaths are from Baramulla, 89 including 25 recoveries are from Shopian, 66 including 30 recoveries are from Kupwara, 30 including 12 recoveries are from Budgam, 14 with all fourteen recoveries are from Ganderbal, 11 including 03 recoveries are from Kulgam and 09 including 03 recoveries are from Pulwama.

In Jammu division, 27 including 26 recoveries are from Jammu district, 21 including one death and 19 recoveries are from Udhampur, 7 with four recoveries are from Samba and 4  including three recoveries are from Rajouri , one from Kishtiwar who has also recovered and one active case each from Ramban, Kuthua and Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 80,206 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 13,688 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 413 persons are in hospital isolation while as 213 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 58,610 persons have completed surveillance period and 7,274 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 31,312 samples are available.

Out of 31,312 the number of samples tested negative stands at 30,571 while as 741 have been tested positive, among them 413 are active and 320 persons have recovered and 8 persons have died. (KNO)
