PM Modi, Rajnath, LG Murmu, Omar other pay tributes to slain SF personnel

New Delhi/ Srinagar, May 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday paid tributes to the security personnel killed in an encounter in north Kashmir’s Handwara area.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Prime Minister posted, ‘Tributes to our courageous soldiers and security personnel martyred in Handwara. Their valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. They served the nation with utmost dedication and worked tirelessly to protect our citizens.”
Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh taking to twitter said, “I offer my tributes to the soldiers and security personnel who fell in action. My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones today. India stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of these brave martyrs.”

Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT, Girish Chandra Murmu while paying  rich tributes to the slain security personnel said, “The supreme sacrifice made by security personnel who attianed martyrdom during an encounter in Handwara area of Kashmir will always be remembered.”

He also expressed his solidarity with their families and said that the sacrifices of these bravehearts will not go waste.
“We salute the valour of the Army, Police and other security forces for playing a crucial role in combating militancy and ensuring safe and secure environment for the people”, he said.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor KK Sharma said, “Sacrifices rendered by our brave hearts while defending the nation and fighting the forces inimical to peace will go down as historic in the annals of history. The supreme sacrifice rendered by our valiant  security personnel will be remembered for times to come.”
He also expressed his solidarity with their families.
Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah tweeted, ”Sorry to hear about the army & police officers & the jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty in Handwara this morning. May their souls rest in peace & may their families & colleagues find strength at this difficult time.”

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police also paid tributes to the forces personnel killed in Handwara encounter. “The nation will remember you as heroes for times to come,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

Five security force personnel, including a Colonel and a Major were killed, while two militants were gunned down in an encounter at Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara on Sunday.
