Cross LoC shelling in  Uri

Srinagar, May 4: Pakistan troops violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked heavy shelling and firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri sector on Monday, officials said.

They said the ceasefire violation comes just two days after shelling by them in the same sector that led to injuries to two girls and three soldiers, two of whom succumbed on Saturday.

“Pakistani troops fired mortar shells at around 0400 hrs, targeting forward posts and civilian areas in Uri sector. Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire lasted for over two-and-a-half hours. However, no one was injured in the shelling,” the officials added.  (UNI)
