New Delhi, May 3: Armed forces of the nation, who have been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the security of people in the country, played ‘Thanksgiving’ host to a different line of soldiers, who were stepping out of their homes, braving all odds, in the battle against Novel Coronavirus.

It was a sight to behold, as one warrior saluted another!

The armed forces, including the Indian Army, Indian Naval Services and the Indian Air Force organised several activities as a show of gratitude, including paying floral tributes to all the frontline workers, who were working day and night, to check the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appreciate the gesture of armed forces to express the country’s gratitude towards all frontline warriors leading the fight against Covid-19.

‘Appreciate the gesture of our armed forces to express the country’s gratitude towards all frontline warriors leading the fight against COVID-19. The nation stands united, as all of us reiterate our resolve to defeat corona virus through our collective determination and discipline,’ the President, who is also of the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, said in his tweet.

Naidu welcomed the gesture of armed forces in conducting flypasts and playing military bands in front of hospitals as a tribute to sacrifices and selfless service of frontline CoronaWarriors such as doctors, nurses, policemen, government officials, media, sanitation workers and others.

Prime Minister Modi wrote, ‘Saluting those who are at the forefront, bravely fighting COVID-19. Great gesture by our armed forces.’

As the number of Novel Coronavirus confirmed cases reached 39,980 in the country, the armed forces, who have been entrusted with the security of people in the country, played ‘Thanksgiving’ host to a different line of soldiers, who were stepping out of their homes, braving all odds, in the battle against Novel Coronavirus.

The President, the Vice-President and the Prime Minister also paid tributes to the brave soldiers and security personnel martyred in Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir.

‘A grateful nation will always remember their supreme sacrifice. The entire country stands united in the fight against the forces of terror and evil. Thoughts and prayers with the families of martyrs,’ the President said.

As part of the nationwide activities to honour Corona warriors, the Indian Army officials honoured the doctors and staff of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), a Covid-19 hospital in Aurangabad, on the ‘Corona Warriors Day’. They also displayed a banner, ‘INDIA SALUTES CORONA WARRIORS’, while maintaining social distancing norms.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, apart from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the various ways, in which the Indian armed forces felicitated the Corona warriors and thanked them for paying tribute to Corona warriors at the National Police Memorial, as well as across the country.
