Bengaluru FC extend contracts to four youth footballers

Bengaluru: Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC, on Thursday, announced that they had handed contract extensions to Ajay Chhetri, Namgyal Bhutia, Leon Augustine and Naorem Roshan Singh, ahead of their 2020-2021 season.
While Ajay’s new contract will see him wear BFC colours for at least two more seasons, the trio of Leon, Namgyal and Roshan have signed three-year deals.
“Youth development is a massive part of our philosophy here at Bengaluru FC and it was with the intention of seeing our youngsters progress that we set up the BFC B Team. We were able to give the young players over 30 competitive games this season, which has helped them take that next step,” said club CEO, Mandar Tamhane.
Namgyal, who Is a versatile full-back, scored once and assisted four more times in the Blue Colts’ BDFA Super Division League winning campaign whileAjay (four goals, five assists) and Roshan (two goals, three assists) also played a crucial role. Leon Augustine, who was later named the BFC B Player of the Season, scored seven times and assisted four more in the campaign, while also making his Indian Super League debut at the end of last season.
“These four boys have been performing at a very good level for several months now, and in discussion with the Head Coach, Carles Cuadrat and Naushad Moosa, our Head of Youth Development and Reserve Team Head Coach, we decided that it was only right that we secure their futures for the long term. We are looking forward to seeing them contribute more in the coming seasons” said club CEO Mandar Tamhane.
Bengaluru FC had earlier this year announced the extension of striker Edmund Lalrindika’s contract, with the 21-year-old heading to Quess East Bengal on loan for the remainder of the season.
