Five drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar, April 27: Awantipora Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers and have recovered huge quantity of contraband substances form their possession in two separate incidents in the area.according to police statement issued to KNS, reads continuing its drive against the drug peddlers Police Station Awantipora arrested 05 drug peddlers in two different incidents and recovered cannabis (suspected to be charas) about 1.5 Kg from the arrested persons . Two persons were arrested by a Police naka party at RH Cannal road Awantipora when the arrested two persons were travelling in a vehicle was signalled to stop and during search 01 Kg Cannabis Powder(suspected to be charas) was recovered from the possession of the persons boarding the vehicle.In another incident Three persons were arrested near Toll Plaza NHW when they were travelling in a vehicle Maruti 800 and during the search of the said vehicle 500 gms.of Cannabis(suspected to be Charas) was recovered from the three persons boarding in the said vehicleCase FIR Number 51/2020 and 52/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora.Two vehicles bearing registration number JK03H-8526 and JK01H-0232 used in the commission of the said crime have been seized in the said cases.Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
