COVID-19: Cases in India jump to 19,984; 50 deaths in 24 hours; Recovery rate increases to 19.36%

New Delhi, Apr 22: Coronavirus cases in India jumped close to 20,000 with the biggest increase in the number of deaths in a day linked to the highly infectious virus, NDTV reported.
Fifty patients died in the last 24 hours. While 19,984 cases have been reported in the country so far, an improvement has been recorded since yesterday in the recovery rate, which indicates the number of people who have successfully fought off the illness, the government data shows. The recovery rate stood at 19.36 per cent this morning, with 618 patients recovering in a day.
The Union Home Ministry has further relaxed the lockdown guidelines for agriculture and forestry items, shops of educational books for students shops of electrical fans, a week after the government released the guidelines for the revival of industrial and commercial activities after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended till May 3 the lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19.
