PM Modi to address Nation at 10 am on Tuesday, may announce extension of lockdown

New Delhi, Apr 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Nation on Tuesday morning, the last day of 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.
‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Nation at 10 AM on April 14, 2020,’ a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said on Monday.
As per sources, PM Modi is likely to announce a further extension of the lockdown.
In a video-conference of the Prime Minister with Chief Ministers of all states on April 11, an overwhelming consensus was in the favour of extension of the lockdown as the trajectory of Covid cases was not declining.
PM Modi, while expressing his agreement with the idea of extension of the lockdown, said that the government was not just looking to save lives but also prevent an adverse impact on the economy.
‘Earlier, our motto was ‘Jaan Hai Toh Jahaan Hai’ but now ‘Jaan Bhi, Jahaan Bhi’, Mr Modi had said.
If the lockdown is extended, the government is likely to allow several industries offering essential and daily use items to operate.
