110 held for defying lockdown orders in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 10: Police on Friday arrested 110 people and seized eight vehicles for defying restriction imposed by authorities to curtail spread of Coronavirus in Kashmir.

A police spokesperson said that police arrested 26 persons, including 7 shopkeepers in Shaheed Gunj, Nowgam, Khanyar and Parimpora in Srinagar for defying the restriction orders and also seized two vehicles.

In Bandipora, he said 50 persons were arrested and six vehicles were seized for breaching the prohibitory orders of District Magistrate.

He said in Handwara 34 persons were arrested for violating prohibitory orders imposed under sector144 CrPC.

“Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations in all the cases have been initiated,” he added.

He said police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly.
