No new COVID-19 cases in Ladakh; 9 out of 14 infected patients treated

Leh, Apr 6: No one has been tested positive for Coroanvirus from last four days in the Union Territory of Ladakh, where nine out of 14 infected patients have been successfully treated and discharged from hospitals.
Meanwhile, Ladakh Governor R K Mathur has donated 30 per cent of his salary for one year as his contribution in the nation’s fight against COVID 19 pandemic.
“From last two days we have received 50 test results which are all negative for COVID-19,” Ladakh UT spokesperson Rigzin Samphel told reporters here on Monday.
He said nine patients have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals in Ladakh. “Earlier we had information that 10 patients have fully recovered. But, there is some confusion in the test result of one patient. So we have once again sent the sample to Delhi for testing and hopefully it will also come negative,” he said.
He said the condition of the remaining five patients, two from Leh and three from Kargil, is also stable. “The patients are asymptomatic,” he added.
Answering a question, Samphel said all the discharged patients have voluntarily admitted themselves in a government facility. “We had given the patients option to either self quarantine at home or stay at a government facility. The only think was to keep their nutritional values in check as it had decreased because they were confined for many days. We had shared these details with the patients,” he said.
He said the patients have voluntarily admitted themselves to the facility, where a nutritionist has prepared their diet chart and they are being taken care of. “They will leave for home once their nutritional values are back on track,” he said.
On the condition of the first COVID-19 case in Ladakh, he said the patient is a senior citizen and is currently stable.
