Coronavirus row: Mayor Directs A Slew Of Measures In Wake Of Inclement Weather

Srinagar: Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azeem Mattu today held an emergency meeting in central office SMC here at Karan Nagar in wake of rainy weather and discussed various imperative steps to tackle with the water-logging issues.

Mayor directed the concerned to identify the trouble spots due to continuous rainfall and immediately dewater those spots there off, a PRO of SMC said in a statement issued to GNS.

In the meeting, it was observed that the areas like Babdemb, Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, Khomeini Chowk, Solina, Wazirbagh, Chanpora Rose Lane, Masjid Anjum Qamarwari and hospitals need immediate attention.

Directions were passed to clear the accumulated garbage in view of the present threat of Covid-19 pandemic, the statement said.

Mayor also said that in view of weather forecast, a tight vigil needs to be kept on sensitive areas with subsequent measures to be adopted, the PRO said, adding that Mattu also stressed for procuring of machines, boats, including dewatering pumps and other infrastructure required in case of any eventuality.

Directions were also passed on to conduct sterilisation drives in all community centres that shall be handed over to district administration in view of Covid-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, Joint Commissioner Adm, Joint Commissioner Works, S.E. Drainage, Executive Engineers CDC, MCD and S&D Health Officer SMC, Secretary SMC, Chief Sanitation Officer and other officials, the statement said. (GNS)
