COVID-19: Rajnath Singh holds review meeting with CDS, Services chiefs

New Delhi: Amid spurt in coronavirus cases in the country, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday held a review meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chiefs of three services and senior officials on the preparedness for tackling COVID-19 menace.

“Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh chairing a review meeting on MoD’s preparedness for tackling the COVID-19 menace. #IndiaFightsCorona,” the Ministry of Defence said in a tweet.

‘Also seen are Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Defence Secretary Dr. @drajaykumar_ias, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, Chief of the Army Staff General MM Naravane and Secretary (ESW) Smt Sanjeevanee Kutty,” the Defence Ministry spokesperson said in a tweet.

India count climbed to 644 positive cases of coronavirus while the death toll reached at 11.

Over 21,000 people have died of coronavirus infections across the world with over 7500 deaths being recorded in Italy alone.

On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day lock down in the entire country in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.
